Annual Conway Tennis Ball The Conway Tennis Ball is now an annual tradition in Conway. The weekend before Thanksgiving we have a fun tennis mixer at the indoor courts at Hendrix College. If you've played before you won't want to miss this year. If you haven't you better sign up as the tournament is limited to the first 32 A players and 32 B players and the spots go fast. This year we are also having a junior tennis ball on Friday night. In honor of Jack Logan, who died in a boating accident while on a mission trip to Nicaragua in 2006, the tournament has been renamed the Jack Logan Memorial Tennis Ball. Jack loved the game of tennis and he leaves a tremendous legacy of service and love to everyone who knew him or came in contact with him. This year, the tournament will be open to players age 19 and older. Register now before it's too late. Read on... There are many people in Conway who play tennis and have not had a chance to meet other tennis players. There are many people who want to get out for a day of fun and competition but don't feel they are ready for a highly competitive tournament. Others play tennis all the time, including tournaments, and want to see the game of tennis grow in Conway. For all these reasons and more, we are having the Conway Tennis Ball at the indoor tennis facility at Hendrix College on Saturday, November 22, 2008. Register now, or read on and then register. The Conway Tennis Ball is a revolving doubles tournament designed to bring players of varying experience and abilities together on the court for a day of tennis and fun. Simply register as an "A" or "B" player and you'll be assigned a partner for each of your matches. Doubles teams will be made up of one "A" and one "B" player. By the end of the day you will have played at least three matches with three different partners. You will have a ball playing tennis and meeting new people. Register now or read on and then register. The entry fee for the event is $25 which includes at least 3 matches, awards, door prizes, an event t-shirt and all the fun you can have on the tennis court with other tennis players from the Conway area. Register now and check back after 8:00 pm on Thursday November 20th to see what time your first match will be. The tournament draw will be posted right here. Please tell your friends - we have room for the first 32 "A" and 32 "B" players who sign up. The entry deadline is midnight on Tuesday, November 18th or when we reach 64 players. Am I an "A" or "B" player? If you are new to the game and have never participated in a tournament or team tennis, you will want to rate yourself a "B" player. If you have playing experience below the 3.5 level you are also a "B" player. Past tournament or team tennis experience rated 3.5 or above is an "A" rating. If you are rated as a 3.0 player but feel comfortable playing at the 3.5 level, you are welcome to register as an "A" player. Remember, an "A" player will always be teamed up with a "B" player. What does all of this cost? $25 registration fee includes a guarantee of at least 3 matches with 3 different partners, a Conway Tennis Ball t-shirt, prizes for winners and finalists, door prizes, a chance to meet other Conway tennis players and possibly the most fun you've had on the tennis court in a long time.
