| Tennis Unlimited Announced 2007 Junior Tennis Camps
Conway Explosion Finishes 5th in Southern Championships
The Conway Explosion junior tennis team, representing Arkansas, finished 5th in the 14 year-old advanced level division in the Southern Sectional Championships held August 18-20 in Mobile, Alabama. This year’s event drew the top teams from throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Matches were played at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Alabama which was the official headquarters for the USTA Southern Section Jr. Team Championships. Team rosters consisted of at least 3 girls and 3 boys who competed in Boy’s and Girl’s Singles, Boy’s and Girl’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. "The section championships determine the best tennis teams in the South," said Mary Hatfield tournament director for the event and USTA Southern Section Jr. Team Tennis Coordinator. "It is a great experience for these kids, but most importantly they are having fun.” Team members that competed in the Southern tournament for the 14 year-old advanced team included: Maggie Beetstra, Ali Rowden, Gabriella Rowden, Nick Brady, Mario Martinez, and Jon Mark Rowden. Group Tennis lessons for all ages Be Pham, former college tennis coach with over 20 years of teaching experience will begin offering adult, young junior (under 9) and junior (9 and over) group tennis lessons. The 6 week session runs on Thursday afternoons, March 23 - May 4 at the UCA tennis courts. The cost is $65 per child. Classes are available for children ages 4-16 of all skill levels. Arkansas state team tennis tournament held on October 29 at Burns
Park Tennis Center in North Little Rock. A Conway Explosion team
was entered in each of the three age divisions. The 12 year old
team consisted of Hart Denton, Robbie Powell, Kartick Garimella,
Alex Taylor, Brianna Wilson, all of Conway and Maggie Beetstra of
Little Rock. The 14 year old team consisted of Nick Brady, Udai
Garimella, Ben Roberts, Tess Bradford, all of Conway, Ali Rowden
and Gabby Rowden of Greenbrier. The 18 year old team consisted of
Chris Dussard, Reed Strickland, Jordan Wilson, Matt Gussberry, all
of Conway, Alex Lybarger of Greenbrier and Evan Buerer of Vilonia.
